How to Set Up Insights
A quick start guide on how to set up and use MagicBrief Insights.
1. Click into the ‘Insights’ tab in the top left
2. This prompt will pop up. Click ‘Connect’.
3. Select and confirm the Ad Account you want to connect
🔮⚡️MagicTip: The left sidebar contains: Overview: To sort and filter your whole ad account and to generate reports Copilot: To analyse your ads on autopilot to instantly find your winning ads. Saved Reports: To refer back to for regular reporting Bot for Slack: To set up summary reports that get sent straight to Slack. Account & Data Settings: To customise your Insights account settings for greater control.
4. Sort by Metrics
Click ‘Add Metric’ to pull up a list of metrics. These will sort your ad set based on performance against these metrics.
You can select any metric available in Meta Ads Manager including any custom metrics you’ve created within your ad account (these will appear next to a purple cube icon). We also include popular creative analytics formulas like Thumbstop & Holdplay so you don’t have to build them yourself.
Metrics added will appear as tags up the top.
🔮MagicTip: Click here for a full list of metrics and their definitions to better understand your ad analytics.
5. Add Additional Filters
Add additional parameters to your analysis set with Filters.
This allows you to filter only for ads that adhere to certain characteristics. eg. Ad Delivery, Creative Type and Spend amount
Filters will appear as tags above your ‘sort by’ metrics.
🔮MagicTip: We recommend adding ‘Spend’ as a filter to ensure ads have been validated with enough spend before looking at results.
6. Select time period
This will filter your analysis set based on the timeframe you select.
7. Group by Characteristics
Group your analysis set by common features (this is great if you’re testing ad variations in a group).
8. Toggle Visible Metrics
Use the toggle to adjust which metrics you want visible for each ad. This allows you to see other characteristics without ‘sorting’ your ad set.
eg. Ad Delivery will show you which ads in your analysis set are Active or Inactive
9. Switch between Cards or Table View
Use the button on the top right to switch how you view your ad set.
10. Review Performance with Conditional Colouring
Hover over a number to see why it’s a top / bottom performer based on the ‘sort by’ metrics input. We use conditional colouring for the ad set shown on the page (not the entire ad set in your account ).
We use a weighted average to remove the impact of outliers.
🔮⚡️MagicTip: If you’re in a time pinch, use Copilot to review creative performance in a minute. Explore Copilot here
